Our chain has alternating links and balls throughout and the pattern is consistent and uninterrupted (this is something we look for and is important because it shows the chain is in its original condition with no links removed). Besides being decorative, such watch chains were useful; people would hang their keys or watch fob from them. Our gunmetal chain even has a its original blue-black gunmetal split ring, .38 inch in diameter, from which to hang a pendant. The chain is in perfect condition and has all its original pieces, a good thing indeed, because finding matching gunmetal coated split rings is next to impossible. To keep the chain in its current perfect condition, one only need to It needs no maintenance or special care but we recommend that it be kept away from water and damp environments. The chain is 56" long and can be doubled or tripled. The chain does not have a clasp. The pendants shown in our images are our Pietra Dura Pendant with Floral Design
