C 1910 "Pools of Light" earrings are made up of a rock crystal orbs surrounded along the sides with a sinuous flower of silver gilt, linked to a silver gilt ball which perfectly echoes the round shape of the orb. The earrings are on shepherd's hooks and are easy to put on and remove. Rock crystal is a clear quartz, heavier, harder, twice as refractive as glass and believed to have magical properties; the practice of crystal ball gazing dates to Greek and Roman times. The refractive qualities can be seen by the way the orb magnifies the numbers on our ruler, pictured below. Our rock crystal Pools of Light earrings are
1 1/4 inches long.
