Wonderful 18K hallmarked 1841 enamel, pearl cluster memorial ring set with 6 pearls and a diamond in the center. These rings were symbolic of the romantic revivalism that swept through the country during the early years of Queen Victoria's reign. The inscription reads "Mary Wilkinson died 1st of June 1842", hallmarked Birmingham,1841.It was likely ordered in advance and inscribed upon Mary Wilkinson's death, by a family member. A small round compartment fitted with a lock of woven hair is on the underside of the forget-me-not. The ring is US size 7.
