Our elegant 18K Georgian muff chain dates to the turn of the 19th century. A muff chain was considered an essential part of the Georgian woman's wardrobe, certainly those considered among the upper crust of society. Women would string the chains through the muff of fur to keep their hands warm. The chains would hang at a comfortable level about the woman's waist. Today the muff chain would be worn as a single chain, doubled or tripled. Our chain is in pristine condition and has a classic component of one's necklace wardrobe. The gold links are slightly textured. The tube style clasp is well constructed and fits solidly and securely into the original barrel clasp, a beauty in its own right, with its three evenly spaced amethysts. The links are sturdy and surprisingly lightweight. The chain measures 48 inches, which is the appropriate length for a muff chain in its original form. A staple of any woman's wardrobe, our Georgian 18K muff chain is a perfect addition and is versatile enough to be worn with a conservative work outfit or with a cocktail dress for evening wear. This is one you don't want to miss!
