This diminutive niello buckle bracelet has a lovely niello design- "niello" is a derivation of the Latin word for black, "niger". Niello work was an ancient technique of silver decoration, revived by a German jeweler in Paris in the early part of the nineteenth century. Niello work is done by engraving a design on the silver, and filling the recesses with an alloy of lead, copper, sulphur, and silver. We think this smaller scaled niello buckle bracelet, with its pattern of trailing leaves, is divine, especially when worn with a collection of different textured bracelets. The bracelet circumference, measured from the inside, is 6.5 to 6.75 inches.
