Our 9K claddagh ring is a traditional Irish ring. Claddagh rings originated from the fishing village of Galway in Ireland and are among a genre of Fede rings, Italian for "hands joined in faith". The hands signifies friendship, the heart signifies love, and the crown signifies fidelity.
According to Irish lore, the Claddagh ring is worn on the right hand with the crown facing outwards if one is single, and with the crown facing inwards if one is in a committed relationship. Upon engagement it is worn on one’s left hand with the crown facing outwards, and for marriage it is worn on one’s left hand with the crown facing inward.
We love the indentation of the hands and the heart on the underside of the ring, interesting detail work on the part of the ring's maker.
There is a double diamond makers mark on the inside with the initials BJ on the inside and a difficult to read hallmark indicating English origin.
US size 9, resizeable.
