Elegant 15K English fob with a tapered regency style shape and an intaglio of a heraldic coat of arms. The base of the fob is chalcedony, a form of quartz that was available in several colors. The intaglio shows a proud lion in passant and a drape on either side falling from the reeded rod. The drape supports the shield with the heads of three fierce looking dragons or lions. Fantastic heraldic monsters, whether lions or dragons (we are not absolutely sure) were a symbol of courage. This family crest is meant to symbolize courage, resourcefulness, and loyalty.
The art of engraving hard-stones is truly a lost art, and as such, fob seals with their beautiful engraved stone bases, are one item one can purchase without worry about reproductions and forgeries. This beautifully carved fob seal is as they say, is the real deal.
