Circa 1830 18K pearl cluster ring with its five perfectly matched pearls in a forget-me-not arrangement with a center ruby, is awash in sentiment. We love this delicate sentimental ring with its lovely band distinctively carved at the shoulders and beautifully engraved and carved band, so that when you look at the ring head on, you see the band has been hand carved in "steps", unlike your typical polished and plain round band. This ring is a good example of the of exceptional Georgian craftsmanship (and yes, it was largely men who did the work). The dichroic ruby at the center shows 2 shades of red and is the crowning touch for this romantic and sentimental love ring. The reverse of the ring has a glazed compartment set with dark hair. It is likely the ring was a gift to a lover as a promise to return. Rubies are the birthstone for July. They are the hardest of all the gems second only to diamonds. The ring is a size 5 3/4 and can be sized.
