Antique Shakudo bracelet with a dragon motif was made in Japan in the 1890's. Shakudo work was used in Japan during the Sanarau period by artisans who made ornaments to adorn swords and other weapons. It became popular in the making of jewelry in the 1890's and was characteristic of the Aesthetic movement, with its asymmetrical art forms. The bracelet is elasticized and easy to wear. The band is 1/2 inch wide, the center piece is 1 3/8 high by 5/8 wide.
